Winning Showdowns Made Easy in MLB The Show 26 - GhostPulse0 - 18-05-2026

1. Lineup Exploitation & Drafting Strategy
Ignore Defensive Positions
Your players will never take the field, so forget positions. Put a shortstop at catcher or a first baseman in center field—defense doesn’t matter. Draft purely for offensive power.
Prioritize Key Hitting Attributes
Look at Clutch and Contact ratings first. These will give you a bigger PCI (the sweet spot) and more consistent hitting. Power comes next, to make those hits count.
Stack Opposite Handedness
Check the mini-boss or final boss pitcher before drafting. If it’s a Right-Handed Pitcher (RHP), load your lineup with left-handed hitters for a big statistical advantage.

2. The “Bunt Cheese” & Speed Meta
Draft Pure Speed
Grab a couple of 85+ speed players for the bench or the bottom of your lineup. They’re perfect for stealing bases and making the CPU look silly.
Drag Bunt to First Base
With fast runners up, drag bunt toward first or second. It’s almost guaranteed to get a runner on base, and you won’t risk double plays.
Abuse the R2/RT Stolen Base Trick
Once a runner is on first, take a one-step lead, hold R2/RT, then hit the steal button. Don’t worry about pickoffs—the CPU pitcher won’t even try. Wait until the pitcher looks at the plate, hold for two seconds, and release. Your runner gets a perfect jump every time.

3. Perk Selection
Exit Velocity Boosts
Pick perks that boost exit velocity, like Clear for Takeoff. Hard contact = more home runs.
Situational Overrides
Use perks that trigger when playing from behind, like Hero Time. Showdowns always start in the 9th inning with you trailing, so these perks are active constantly.

4. Plate Discipline Against Bosses
Drain Reliever Stamina
If the boss is a reliever like Mason Miller or Abner Uribe, wait until two strikes before swinging. Make them throw 30–40 pitches. Their stamina and confidence will crash, turning fastballs into easy “meatballs.”
Anchor and Sit Fastball
Switch to the Strike Zone camera and anchor your PCI. Sit on the fastball and adjust timing for slower breaking balls. This makes hitting the boss’s pitches much easier.

By following these steps—drafting for offense, exploiting speed, stacking the right perks, and staying patient at the plate—you’ll turn Showdowns from frustrating grind into an easy win. Remember: the CPU can’t touch you on defense, so focus on crushing the ball and controlling the game with smart strategy.
