In Forza Horizon 6, Japan isn’t just a playground for high-speed races—it’s also packed with hidden gems called Treasure Cars. These are rare, abandoned vehicles scattered across the map, waiting for players to discover, restore, and drive. Unlike traditional Barn Finds tucked away in barns or garages, Treasure Cars are out in the open, often blending into urban streets or mountain scenery, making the hunt part puzzle, part exploration.

How the Treasure Car System Works
Treasure Cars are tied directly to the Discover Japan campaign and Mei, your guide and Japanese car expert. Here’s the system in a nutshell:
- Photo Clues from Mei: As you earn higher-tier wristbands, Mei sends you photographs with hints about a car’s location. The images might show a nearby landmark, a street corner, or even a mountain ridge.
- The Hunt: Use these clues to pinpoint the car’s location. Some will be in busy city alleys of Tokyo, others on snowy mountain passes or tucked behind waterfalls.
- Restoration: Once you locate a Treasure Car, you can restore it instantly and add it to your garage. This means you don’t just unlock it as a collectible—you can drive it immediately.
- Collection Journal: Every car you discover is logged here, along with milestones and extra rewards. It’s your personal record of automotive conquests across Japan.
So far, nine Treasure Cars exist, with several officially confirmed:
- 1991 Nissan Figaro – Retro charm, perfect for Tokyo’s tight streets.
- 1985 Nissan Safari Turbo – Rugged off-roader for mountain trails.
- 1969 Dodge Charger R/T – Classic muscle, rare in the Japanese setting.
Exploration Tips for Treasure Car Hunters
- Use Interactive Maps
While part of the fun is exploration, maps with pins can save time if you’re aiming for 100% completion. They often include campaign requirements for unlocking specific clues.
- Progress Through the Campaign
Treasure Cars are unlocked progressively. Focus on earning higher-tier wristbands from Mei to receive more photo clues.
- Spot Aftermarket Deals
Occasionally, the open world offers time-limited rare cars—like a Dodge SRT Demon—at discounted prices. Keep an eye on the streets for these opportunities.
- Look for Regional Mascots
While hunting, don’t miss collectible mascots hidden in the same areas as Treasure Cars. They provide extra rewards and make the hunt even more fun.
